Past simple tense

Past activities: - We have learnt about daily routine sentence making process or we can say the uses of V1. It means we have learnt about simple present tense. Now we are going to learn about the uses of V2. It means we will learn past simple tense. A verb can be changed in respect of time. So when we have to say something about our past activities, we use second form of verb (V2).

 

The past simple tense is a verb tense used to describe actions or events that occurred in the past and have already been completed. It is also sometimes called the simple past tense. It is often used to indicate a single completed action in the past.

 

The past simple tense is formed by adding -ed to regular verbs and using the second form of irregular verbs.

 

For example:

Regular verb: walk → walked

Irregular verb: eat → ate

 

Here are some examples of sentences in the past simple tense:

 

- I ate breakfast this morning.

- She walked to the park yesterday.

- They played basketball after school.

- He took a nap after lunch.

- We went to the beach on Saturday.

Past activities- V2 (I+ actioned).

I got up at six o'clock in the morning yesterday then I washed my face and brushed my teeth. After that I did some exercises and then took a shower. I went to school at eight o'clock yesterday. After that, I took my lunch break and talked with my friends. I came back home at two o’clock. I watched TV. I did my homework and helped my mother in the house. I went to playground and played with my friends yesterday. I went to bed and slept at ten o’clock.
