Past Continuous Tense
Past continuous:- The "past continuous" tense is used to describe ongoing or continuous actions that were happening at a specific point in the past. It is formed by combining the past tense of the verb "to be" (was/were) with the present participle of the main verb (-ing form).

Note:- Is/am/are shows present sense of time in
a sentence and was/were shows past sense of time. We use “was” with singular
and “were” with plural noun/ pronoun
The past continuous tense is often used to provide background information or set the scene in narratives or storytelling. It can also be used to describe actions or events that were in progress at a particular time in the past.
