Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Past Perfect Continuous Tense:- The past perfect continuous tense shows that something started in the past and was continuing in the past time.

The past perfect continuous is formed using the construction “had been + continuous (V1+ing)”.

This sense of time is a combination of perfect and continuous tense.

Had been (perfect tense)+  actioning (continuous tense)

I had been playing football since morning.

In this sentence, using the past perfect continuous verb tense conveys that playing football is an action that began sometime in the past and was continue in the past.
